Work Experience
Do you want to know more about my corporate life? well lets get along.
I have been working with the Ghana Revenue Authority formerly Internal Revenue Service for the past eight years. I joined the erstwhile IRS first as a contract Rent Tax Assistant. I think the name describes itself. As part of my schedules I prepare letters for unward delivery to landlords who have not been roped into the tax net, and also those who willingly or unwillingly evade the payment of tax.
After a few months, due to my knowledge and skill in Secretaryship, I was asked to relieve a Secretary who had gone on Leave. My performance was lauded and was therefore retained even after the substantive Secretary resumed her official duties. Mrs. Naomi Pappoe will forever remain in my memory drive because she wasn't only a mother, but a friend. We chat, conversed and ate together as though we were age mates.
My stay in IRS almost came to an end when in March 2004 we were rendered jobless because our contract had ended and will not be renewed. This would have spelt doom for me because I had made so much noise both at home and church that I was a staff of IRS. How was I going to face the world? Thank God when I lifted my eyes upon the hill my help came from the Lord.
Barely two weeks later, I was called to relieve another Secretary who had gone to off-load her tank of baby, sorry she was on maternity leave. My temporary appointment took a permanent status when in August 2005, I was duly confirmed a full staff of the Service. My working life in the Research Unit of the IRS is worth commemorating. My former boss, Mr. Martin Adane, who was one time an MP in the Busia administration will forever be remembered for the indelible mark he has made in my life. I remember one day the late Kwadwo Baah Wiredu as he normally did, paid an unannounced visit as early as 8 am to our office. I and a few colleagues were preparing to have our breakfast - banku and okro soup, when our boss came to inform us of the presence of late Finance Minister. Quickly, we hid the food and when he entered our office, pretended nothing was happening.
Mr. Adane, may God richly bless you and your decendants and generations yet unborn for the impact you've made in my life. In fact he was and is a source of inspiration.
I also happen to temporarily work under a few Assistant Commissioners - Assessment, Collection and Internal Audit. Some of the personalities I worked for that are worth mentioning include: Mr. Martin Adane, Mrs. Phyllis Nartey, Mr. Kenneth Addo, Mr. Adeyigah, Mrs. Josephine Azu, Mr. Nyamodey and Mr. William Fabyan.
In fact, I need to get some water to quench my thirst, so see you another time. Byyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
